Cheetah Walk - Can You Help?

Its that time again! The big day is quickly approaching … this Thursday, Oct. 8th.  If you are new to Cherry Valley, you’ll quickly learn that this is the largest PTA fundraiser of the year.  The kids love it, parents love it and it takes a lot of help to pull it off!  This year the kids are walking to earn money to go towards a mobile laptop cart.  So, thank you in advance for hopefully being able to help out next Thursday.

Please look over the chart below. The shaded areas are filled as of the morning of Monday, September 29, but if there is still a spot you would like to take, please email Katie at katieellsworth@hotmail.com. We know most parents like to help with their child's class and we do our best to accommodate those requests, but we fill the schedule based on a first reply basis.  If you are available to help with more than one shift, even better — just let Katie know. There are also openings for helping with water & snacks, being the Cheetah bodyguard, and simply as an extra/backup helper.

Your volunteer paperwork from the school district must be filled out and approved in order to help. As you can see, we need a lot of volunteers to make this event happen!

Field Day!!!

The end of the school year is quickly approaching! That means it's time for ....

 

 

We need parent volunteers to make this fun event run smoothly! Helping out at Field Day is a great way to celebrate the end of the school year with your kids. 

 

We're using VolunteerSpot (the leading online signup and reminder tool) to organize our upcoming activity.

Foreign Language Class being offered at CVE next year!

 

Foreign Language for Youth is offering language classes to students at Cherry Valley Elementary before or after school, beginning October 2014 and ending in Spring 2015. 

 

Classes meet at Cherry Valley Elementary, and tuition is only $299 for 40 lessons (less than $7.50 for each 40 minute lesson!).

Use the online survey to let us know your language preferences and schedule, and we will try to offer your choice.

Its JUMP-A-THON time!

Its time for the annual Jump-a-thon!

 

Pledge forms have been sent home for the upcoming PTA Jump-A-Thon.  This event will run April 21st - 23rd during your child's PE class time.  The students have so much fun jumping, counting and encouraging one another throughout the event.  We greatly appreciate your support!!!

Please return your completed pledge form by Monday April 21st so the kids can begin jumping for Cherry Valley.  You may pledge per jump or contribute a flat donation.  If you do pledge "by jump" you can specify a maximum donation.  The PTA is looking for volunteers to help count for the Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes only. Here are the times we need volunteers:

Can you believe Spring is almost here?

Here are a few things going on in the near future ...

 

 

This Friday is Dance Night!! Our kids have been working hard this week learning new dances from the Dance Dude, and they are excited to show you what they have learned. The dance is at 6:30 in the gym and it is an 80s theme! Pizza, concessions, and photos will be in the cafeteria. $5 for two slices of pizza and a drink. $1 for photos.

 

Last day to order yearbooks is April 15! Colleen Idso is looking for pictures (past and present) with Mrs. Brangwin, or gold medal ceremonies, high teas, etc. If you have anything like this please send them to Colleen at keenie315@frontier.com.

Want a chance to win tickets?? The next general PTA meeting is on Tuesday, March 18 at 7:00 in the Library. We will be having a raffle for two tickets to the Mariners game on April 25! Raffle is open to all PTA members in attendance.

 

Also, at this meeting, officers will be elected for the following positions: co-presidents, secretary, and treasurer for the 2014-15 school year. To be eligible for election to any of those positions, candidates must have been a member of the PTA at least 30 days prior to being elected.
