Help PTA help REF
We all know that our Local PTSA's as well as REF are vital resources for our community. With this common goal in mind, PTSAs have typically reserved a line item in the budget for a REF auction basket. These baskets serve as a statement of support from each school, and also enhance the dollars raised at the auction... dollars which come right back to our Riverview schools in the form of REF grants and District Initiative Contributions.

Last year, with PTSA facilitating the task, Cedarcrest had teachers, PTSA Board members, students, and parents donate items for their themed basket. The people who benefit from REF's hard work were more than happy to contribute. This "wide net" request had an amazing response and resulted in an incredible basket full of all kinds of awesome donations, and raised more than any other school basket.

Seeing the success of this effort, we thought it would be great to see CVE PTA take this approach. We think it will result in extraordinary, diverse, and profitable contributions. Additionally, it will allow all our families and teachers to get involved in this awesome effort to do great things for our schools.

The theme for our basket will be READING - we will have a drop located at the Book Fair similar to the teacher bags for donations and a flyer was just sent home!

REFLECTIONS
"Believe, Dream, Inspire" is the theme for this year's Reflection Program and we will celebrate our 21 participants before Bingo on Friday, November 22nd from 5-5:45pm.

5:00-5:15 Art Walk
5:15-5:45 Presentation of Awards and Congratulations

We are so proud of our amazing artists and can't wait to honor them .... see you there!!!

After-School Enrichment Classes

Did you know that PTA offers after-school enrichment classes for your child? As a PTA member, this is just one of the benefits you receive when supporting your school PTA. While PTA volunteers work with the instructors to make these classes possible, it is important to know that this is NOT a moneymaking opportunity. Instructors determine class cost per student and keep all of the money minus a small classroom usage fee.

Enrichment classes will be offered in the fall beginning September 30th and will run for 6 weeks. There will also be a winter session beginning January 27th and a spring session beginning April 14th. Registration information will be sent home in early September.

Your PTA works hard to offer a variety of classes for students and is always on the lookout for new and exciting classes, as well as feedback on what you like and what needs improvement. We encourage you to fill out a SHORT survey by going to the link below. For more information, please contact Rachel Freiheit at thefreiheits@gmail.com. Thank you!

Its that time again!

Summer has flown by and we're gearing up for another great year at Cherry Valley!

Remember to attend Takin' Care Of Business, tomorrow from 3:00 to 5:00. Bring your checkbook to pay for memberships, yearbooks, class fees, even prepay on your child's lunch account. You can also:
  • meet your child's teacher
  • drop off school supplies in classrooms (K-3 only)
  • sign up to be on the PTA volunteer contact list! Volunteers will be making balloon animals as a thank you for parents who submit a Riverview School District Volunteer Application and sign up to be on the PTA volunteer contact list.   You will need to have your driver's license and the date of your last Tdap/Td vaccination if you would like to submit a Riverview School District Volunteer Application.  All volunteers need to be approved by the Riverview School District in order to help out at Cherry Valley Elementary. If you have already been approved by Riverview School District to volunteer, show your approval email and sign up to be on the PTA Volunteer contact list.  If you were approved during the 2012-13 school year and had submitted a volunteer form, your volunteer status can be confirmed in the PTA Volunteer Database.

The first general PTA meeting of the year will be held Tuesday, September 24 at 7pm in the Library. Being involved with the PTA is a great way to have an active share in your child's education - we hope to see you there!

Springing Forward!

Hi Cheetahs! There are lots of fun and exciting things planned for Cherry Valley Elementary this spring!

First off, the Multicultural Night scheduled for tomorrow sadly has to be postponed due to not enough participation. A to-be-decided date is in the works, and more schools will be invited to boost participation.

There is a general PTA meeting next Tuesday (March 19) at 7pm in the CVE Library. New board members will be voted in!

PAC (Parent Advisory Council) Meeting will be held Thursday, March 28th at 7pm in the CVE Office Conference Room.

We're super excited to announce that Mariners games are coming up!! The Mariners are extending a discount ticket offer to the students, parents, faculty, and staff at our school! Enjoy a special outing with your friends and family members! The Mariners play the Texas Rangers on Saturday, April 13 and the Oakland Athletics on Saturday, May 11; both at 6:10pm. Flyers have been sent home. CVE receives a special discount - view seats are only $12! Deadline to order tickets for the April 13 game is March 25, and for the May 11 game is April 25. We have a large block of seats reserved for each game, so order your seats now and join us for some fun at the ballpark!
